Creative Release from the Darkness

I’ve always been drawn to creative practices. As a kid loved to draw and had dreams of being a cartoonist or architect or graphic designer, and i was lucky enough to become just that.
Started with no skills and learnt on the job till i made manager of my department. So i have always had a creative trait in me and learnt that hard work pays off.
So whenever i have felt the darkness taking over, and found myself in a whole. I’ve tried to do something creative whether that be drawing or doodling or something on the computer. As these were all things i could do inside away from pressures.
It wasn’t really until later that i started to try new things and expand my skills including Pyrography, which i loved but found it tough on my hands.
The big change was in Covid lockdown, it quite a deep depression i watched Forge in Fire and loved the idea of making knives, which proved to be a bit harder than i expected, so next up was woodworking. I got right into this made desks, benches and a kiddies chalkboard and so much more. To my current creative outlet the Kind Kong Brand, and working on promoting #mentalhealthawareness and to #bekindtoyourself
Little did I realise i was performing my own art therapy.
Art therapy is a practice of using art to express your feeling in a visual way when unable to communicate them verbally and facilitate healing.
There are many forms of art therapy which include
• Painting or Drawing
• Collage
• Photography
• Sculpture with Clay
• Plus many more
So next time your feeling down, why not try something creative. Release your inner child, make a mess and don’t be critical of the result. Just let your feelings flow.
